Dutch Oven Dirty Rice

A savory blend of spices & meat, this dirty rice or "rice dressing" can make a meal all on its own! One of our favorite southern Louisiana dishes, cooked in our dutch oven it's a cajun delight. Customize the flavors even more by making the rice as spicy or tame as you'd like by stirring in some Carolina Cooker® hot sauce!

Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 30-40 minutes Serves: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 1 cup celery diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons Carolina Cooker® Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ½ cups white rice uncooked
  • 3 ½ cups beef broth
  • chopped green onion or parsley for garnish

Directions

    1. Add ground beef to a dutch oven over medium heat. Cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
    2. Add onion, garlic, green pepper, celery, Cajun Seasoning, and salt. Cook until onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
    3. Stir in rice and beef broth. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer covered for about 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
    4. Allow to sit for 5 to 10 minutes, then fluff with a fork. Garnish with green onions and enjoy!
